PARAG DAS KILLERS STILL ELUDING POLICE NET

Assam intellectual community
today have expressed grave concern over the government failure
to book the real culprit behind the murder of Parag Das, the
pioneer of the human rights movement in the state. Strangely
enough, Mridul Phukan who is believed to be main culprit has
been remaining free thanks to police patronage. Twelve years
have passed since some unidentified gunmen shot dead Parag
Das, the one who championeering for the cause of the people
in general. He was journalist Parag Das who was the real pioneer
of the human rights movement in Assam. The bold journalist
was remembered across the state on Saturday with a series
of programs. Glowing tributes were paid to Das at the Chandmari
based Assam Jatiya Vidyalaya premises attended by some prominent
personalities. Parag's family is not the only victims of the
secret killings in Assam who has yet to get justice. Maloti
Das from Hajo, who lost her husband Parameswar Das said ....More

GIRLS OUTSHINE GUYS IN MBOSE

Girls have again outshone the boys in this year’s Higher
Secondary exams of Meghalaya. St. Anthony’s and St.
Edmund’s have retained the top positions, as in other
years. The results for Science and Commerce were declared
on Friday, while that of Arts is yet to be announced. The
girls have outshone the boys once again and their pass percentage
is much higher than the boys in the result of the HSSLC of
the Meghalaya board of secondary education (MBOSE). The pass
percentage of the girls in the science and the commerce stream
are 68% and 92% as against 57% and 81% of the boys. St. Anthony's
Higher Secondary School and St. Edmund's College of Shillong
bagged the top positions in the Science and. ....More
